EXCURSIONS REFUGE COMA DE VACA. Coma de Vaca-Puigmal

Time: 5 h.
Slope: 400 m.

At 2910 m, Puigmal is the highest mountain in the county of Ripollès. Because of this and its easy access from Núria or Fontalba, it is one of the most frequently visited mountains in the area. The excursion from Coma de Vaca is not so busy, and it is highly recommended, although it is a quite long route.
You can start at the Coma de Vaca refuge. Walk up the Coma de Vaca valley with the river on your left (red points).
When it divides in two, you should follow the right path until reaching the point where the valley starts.
You will arrive to the Carançà pass, although to get there you have to climb 20 minutes along an unconfortable steep slope full of rocks and stones. In the Carançà pass, you will find the GR-11 path, with red and white marks. Follow the nice crest to the West walking the summits of different mountains: Fossa del Gegant, Noucreus, Noufonts, Eina, Finestrelles and finally Puigmal.
